Black-owned bakery

In 1977, Dorothy and Hurtis Hadley made history in the outskirts of Portland, Oregon in the city of Milwaukie. Their lives were already historic, but on April 19th of 1977, they made history when they opened the doors to the first Black-owned bakery in the state of Oregon and the first Black-owned business in Milwaukie.

This online exhibit was created to highlight their historic lives.
